CES 2024: HyperX Unveils New Lightweight Gaming Peripherals

A new year brings another Consumer Electronic Show, and HyperX is kicking off this week’s festivities with an impressive lineup of lightweight tech.

Even before being acquired by HP back in 2021, HyperX has long sought to offer gaming peripherals for gamers of all stripes, and their latest products announced at CES continue this honoured tradition—particularly with new options for younger gamers, or even adults who like their accessories small and lightweight.

HyperX Pulsefire Haste 2 Mini Gaming Mouse

At the forefront of this batch of new peripherals is the Pulsefire Haste 2 Mini, a smaller version of last year’s Pulsefire Haste 2. This little brother is 1/6th smaller but packs all the same super-precise punch of the HyperX 26K Sensor (capable of up to 26,000 DPI and 650 IPS). With a battery capable of up to 100 hours of battery life on a full charge and tactile switches rated up to 100 million clicks, this lightweight mouse is sure to last in the short- and long-term.

Now gamers with smaller hands or a preference for smaller mice can take advantage of this model’s low-friction skates and custom grips, which now weigh only 59g. Two wireless connectivity modes are available—either 2.4GHz wireless via the included dongle or Bluetooth—and in a pinch, the included USB-C to USB-A cable can keep you in the game in a battery emergency.

HyperX Clutch Tanto Mini WD Gaming Controller

One of the bigger obstacles for introducing youngsters to gaming can be a physical one—the size of the controllers themselves. Luckily HyperX has a new solution: the Clutch Tanto Mini, a compact, yet officially licensed Xbox controller that weighs only 240g.

Fully compatible with Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, compatible Android devices, PC, and even the Steam Deck, the Clutch Tanto Mini is sure to be easy to throw into a backpack for an afternoon at a friend’s house. All the standard features you’d expect from a regular Xbox controller are onboard, just in compact configuration suited to smaller hands. There’s even a 3.5mm headphone jack, for easy use of your favourite wired headset.

HyperX Cloud Mini Gaming Headset (Wired and Wireless)

Speaking of headsets, HyperX’s Cloud Mini Gaming Headset appears to be a perfect complement to the Clutch Tanto Mini. Designed for users aged 6-12, the Cloud Mini brings the full-features of a larger headset down to a child-friendly size.

Available in either wired or wireless iterations (and in either black, white, or multicolored variants), the Cloud Mini is a highly portable multiplatform option. Its 30mm drivers offer immersive audio for whatever activity your child is up to, while maintaining safe audio levels—namely, below 85dB over Bluetooth. The included mic mutes when flipped up, allowing kids to coordinate strategy with their friends and easily mute when needed.

Parents will surely appreciate the HyperX Cloud Mini’s portable design. Weighing only 132g, this kid-friendly headset can rotate its earcups inward when not in use for easy storage in a backpack, and its 25-hour battery life will help keep the youngsters entertained on long trips. This could be a must-have for that next 4-hour flight, especially since its 3.5mm jack makes it compatible with many popular devices, like the Nintendo Switch.

HyperX makes high-quality gaming keyboards known for their customization and personalization options. The Alloy Rise keyboard features hot-swappable key switches, magnetic top plates in various colours, customizable badges, and ambient light sensors to adjust RGB lighting automatically. The Alloy series features a detachable USB cable for transport, and if you opt for the full-size Alloy, It also has dedicated media controls.
