As Counter-Strike 2 nears the end of its announced release window (by Valve), rumours continue to swirl about when the title will actually be released, and despite the upcoming sequel, CS:Go is still one of the most popular games around.
It’s safe to say Counter-Strike 2 is possibly one of the most anticipated games of all time, considering how CS:Go has maintained prominence over its over 11-year lifespan. Not only have fans maintained the high attendance of over a million concurrent players every month since last August, but the lifetime player count history appears to still trend upwards. Player counts now are higher than the title’s first eight years on the market, and below is a trending line graph from SteamDB showing the trend of players migrating to the FPS juggernaut.
These numbers are surprisingly correlated with Counter-Strike 2 Beta releases. The latest update of the CS2 Beta launched on August 31, and that’s when the last spike in concurrent players occurred for CS:Go. Of course, with such massive popularity, fans are going to get antsy about the sequel, and search for any means necessary to unravel when Counter-Strike 2 will release. While the data miner, Aquarius has revealed exciting new details for fans who have yet to partake in the Beta, the real scoop comes from when he believes the Counter-Strike 2 release date is going to be, and unfortunately for die-hard fans, the ‘guessed’ release window is still wide. Valve has even released a Counter-Strike 2 video on September 1, claiming the release would be “Summer 2023”. This video can be viewed below.
All things considered, Aquarius’ forecasted release window is late September – early October from the data mined dates the user revealed on their X account. Fans should take these notes with a grain of salt, though, as nothing will happen until Valve makes any concrete movements on the release date of the upcoming Counter-Strike 2.
