Counter-Strike 2 Patch Brings Big Bug Fixes Across the Game

Counter-Strike 2 surprise launched at the end of September, and since then, the series’ massive player base has had some mixed thoughts on the sequel.

Upon its release, Counter-Strike 2 completely replaced and delisted CS:GO, which already left some players feeling mixed. It certainly isn’t the roughest launch out there, but Counter-Strike 2 has had some problems with bugs and gameplay issues.

A new patch released on 10/25 hopes to address a huge amount of those issues, bringing changes to every single map in the game. Valve has traditionally been good about patching its titles at a regular pace, and it certainly looks like Counter-Strike 2 will stick to that.

Before diving into some of the map-specific changes, the patch did bring a host of general changes that tackled some major issues.

Counter-Strike 2 fixes via the official patch notes:

  • Fixed some cases where weapons could fall out of the world
  • Fixed a bug where Molotov self-damage could be incorrectly penalized as team damage
  • Improved performance for muzzle flashes and HE grenade effects
  • Various bug fixes and tweaks to weapon finishes and stickers
  • Added code to correct packets that arrive out of order in quick succession. These packets were showing up as loss in the net graph.
  • Fixed a bug where SDR routing could sometimes choose the second-best route when immediately connecting, and then stick to that route for too long.

In terms of maps, Inferno has the biggest changes, with an entire railing removed from a building, on top of a host of other things.

Counter-Strike 2 Inferno Changes:

  • Improved bomb visibility when planted in fountain on bombsite B
  • Improved grenade bounce behaviour on roof and stone models to make it more predictable
  • Removed part of railing on balcony
  • Adjusted garage door on bombsite A to improve player readability and clipping
  • Fixed lighting bug on Inferno workshop map
  • Fixed various micro-gaps
  • Overall clipping / movement polish

Nuke, Anubis and Ancient also received sizable fixes, while Mirage, Vertigo, Office, Overpass, and Dust2, only had a few small changes.

Another strange tidbit of Counter-Strike news happened this week, as players discovered the game’s anti-cheat software can ban you for moving your mouse too fast. As reported by PCGamesN, in order to do this, you essentially need to make your mouse incredibly sensitive by ratcheting it above 10,000, then spinning around frantically. It likely would never happen in normal gameplay, but strange nonetheless.

As for the Counter-Strike 2 notes, you can read the full patch notes to see everything.
