Diablo IV Season of the Malignant Details Have Been Revealed

It has now been just over one month since Diablo IV was released, and Activision Blizzard has revealed the upcoming Season of the Malignant details ahead of its launch.

Fans of Diablo IV will soon have a reason to return to Sanctuary. The first season, Season of the Malignant, is right around the corner, and to prepare adventurers for malignancy, Activision Blizzard has revealed a myriad of new details surrounding the virulent season. A reveal trailer has even been unearthed for the upcoming event, and fans can check out the Diablo IV Season of the Malignant trailer below.

The trailer warns, “Although a great evil is receding from Sanctuary, a new festering curse now spreads its corruption across the land,” for what comes next for Sanctuary. A new form of Lilith’s corruption will spread, and Malignant Monsters will roam free. It’s up to adventurers in Sanctuary to harness the power of the Malignant and end the corruption for good.

A brand new questline will be coming to Diablo IV that tasks the player to partner with Cormond, a former priest of the Cathedral of Light, to discover the source of the Malignant and end it. Players will be able to harness 30 new malignant powers to drive back the new corruption from Sanctuary. A new boss, Varshan the Consumed, can also be challenged during the upcoming season.

Unique items have been recently confirmed by Blizzard, and there have been only six unearthed with the base version of Diablo IV. Season of the Malignant brings six more unique items for adventurers to seek in an effort to become stronger than ever, and seven new legendary aspects are also being added to character builds. The new unique items are confirmed, although the six current unique items have been temporarily disabled from Diablo IV following their addition to Helltide Chests in patch 1.0.4. This is due to their ‘too high’ drop rate from the Helltide Chests, and Blizzard will inform fans when they’re re-enabled.

It’s worth mentioning that similarly to Diablo III, Diablo IV will require fans to create brand new characters to play the Season Pass, and all an adventurer has to do to partake in the Season is to start a new Seasonal character. Season of the Malignant unleashes on July 20 in Diablo IV, and fans who want to read the original Blizzard post on the upcoming season can head to the official site.
