Fallout TV Show Confirmed Canon, New Images Revealed

A new first look at the Fallout TV Show has provided a lot more detail on the direction of the story, as well as who the characters are and what roles they will play.

A new detailed write-up has just come out from Vanity Fair, revealing a bunch of new information on the new Amazon Prime Fallout TV Show (officially titled Fallout). First and foremost, the executive producer of the Fallout TV Show, as well as the Director of the Fallout Video Game Series, Todd Howard, has confirmed that the TV Show coexists with the timeline of the games. He said, “We view what’s happening in the show as canon,” with “That’s what’s great when someone else looks at your work and then translates it in some fashion.” Images of the upcoming TV show were also provided, giving fans a look at the live-action Fallout.

Todd Howard then goes on to say, “I don’t have a lot of interest seeing those translated” when referencing a potential live-action Fallout 3, then saying, “I was interested in someone telling a unique Fallout story. Treat it like a game. It gives the creators of the series their own playground to play in,” and appears to be happy with the direction of the Fallout TV Show. He explains, “Look, Fallout can be very dramatic, and dark, and postapocalyptic, but you need to weave in a little bit of a wink…. I think they threaded that needle really well on the TV show.”

Created by Westworld TV series creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, the Fallout TV show sees Lucy (played by Ella Purnell) uprooted from her ‘normal’ life. She has lived her entire life in an underground vault, and a crisis above ground has forced her to come to terms with the reality outside the vault. The first look also gave fans a glimpse of Walton Goggins’ character, The Ghoul. He used to be a father and husband called Cooper Howard, but the global nuclear war has turned him into something less than human.

Showrunner Jonathan Nolan says: “Walton’s equally adept at drama and comedy, which is so difficult. There is a chasm in time and distance between who this guy was and who he’s become, which for me creates an enormous dramatic question: What happened to this guy? So we’ll walk backwards into that.”

The Fallout TV Show is set to air exclusively on Amazon Prime on April 12, 2024.
