Fallout TV Series Announces Premiere Date With New Trailer

And We Got a Sneak Peek on Bringing the Series to Life

Fallout TV Series Announces Premiere Date With New Trailer

Today, Prime Video launched the Fallout TV series trailer, along with the show’s shockingly close official release date, and CGMagazine got a sneak peek of what it took to bring the series to life.

When the announcement came in July 2020, I wasn’t sure how the famed post-apocalyptic series would translate into a series. But after the explosive, revealing deep dive into the Fallout TV series world, consider my mind changed.

After Walton Goggins introduced the trailer, we got a few insights into the cast and creators’ visions when approaching the series.

Jonathan Nolan touched on his time playing Fallout 3, “I think it started, for me, with Fallout 3, which devoured about a year of my life. You know, I was an aspiring young writer at that point. It almost derailed my entire career. It’s so ludicrously playable and fun.” After meeting with Todd Howard for lunch one day five years ago, they got to talking about the series and how, since they were synced up in translating the idea to screen, they had a gentlemanly handshake agreement.

Todd Howard went on to say that after the release of Fallout 3, Bethesda was approached countless times about adapting the series, but they needed to be selective, “…people would approach us over, you know, I would say a 10-year period after Fallout 3 came out, you know, from 2009 on, to adapt Fallout to film or television, and we took a very cautious approach.”

Howard had been a fan of Jonathan Nolan, so after hearing his ideas for the show and them being on brand for Fallout, there was hope something could come together. He described Bethesda developing the series as being obsessive over every pixel and noted the way the showrunners became the same for every frame. This goes to show how in line Jonathan Nolan was on track with the vibe and feeling of Fallout.

Fallout, the TV series, follows Lucy, played by Ella Purnell, as she exits her pristine Vault 33 and ventures into the wasteland. Since her life is in the vault, she quickly comes to learn she might be a little naive to the real world. She comes across Maximus, played by Aaron Moten, and The Ghoul, portrayed by Walton Goggins, throughout her adventures as she grows and learns.

While Jonathan Nolan went on to say pleasing fans will be next to impossible, they did their due diligence and are really proud of what they managed to put together in this extreme mix of comedy, action, and drama,

“I don’t think you really can set out to please the fans of anything or please anyone other than yourself. I think you have to come into this trying to make the show that you want to make it and trusting that as fans of the game, we would find the pieces that were essential to us about the games and try to do the best version of those that we can. I think it’s kind of a fool’s errand to try to figure out how to make people happy in that way. You’ve got to make yourself happy. And I’ve made myself very happy with the show.”

The Fallout TV series will premiere on Prime Video on April 11, 2024.
