Fortnite V-Bucks Price Increase Is Happening Today

Last week, Epic Games announced a program that will incentivize creators to get their audience to make purchases in Fortnite, and today, the price of the virtual currency V-Bucks is set to increase.

Exactly one month ago, Epic Games said that there was an “upcoming price alignment” (a price increase) for Fortnite’s digital currency V-Bucks. The countries affected are the Czech Republic, Denmark, Eurozone countries, Hungary, Japan, Norway, Poland, Romania, Sweden, Turkey, and the United States (including all storefronts where the United States Dollar is used). That price increase is set to deploy today, and Epic Games has given the figures for the price hikes.

It’s interesting to note that Fortnite has already increased the price of their V-Bucks currency this year back in the Summer, and the reasoning back then was “economic factors”. So technically, fans of the Battle Royale title have had to contend with two price increases on the optional currency in 2023. Still, factually, considering the location countries of the price hikes, it could be construed as one big increase spread out over the year. No country has had V-Bucks increase in price twice this year. Below is a table of the planned price increases expected to land today provided by Epic Games.

Like the previous Summer Fortnite V-Bucks hike that affected Canada, Epic Games has announced that The Crew membership price won’t be affected at all. Epic Games has, however, announced a new incentive for content creators based on purchases made after watching streams, and it could coalesce into making more fans purchase more at an increased rate.

On October 18, Epic Games announced a change to their metric that will go into effect on November 1, which will incentivize content creators to advertise buying V-Bucks. The announcement says, “We are introducing a new metric to the engagement payout formula that rewards creators when individual players spend V-Bucks in Fortnite the full week before or the full week after engaging with their island.” Creators interested in this new incentive-based program can find more info and even sign up through the official site.

While Fortnite V-Bucks and re-releases of popular character packs will price hike, it’s safe to say new character packs will immediately start at the new inflated prices as well. Fans who need more info can head over to the Epic Games website to check out further details.
