Gamescom ONL 2026: Airship Syndicate Forces Players To Escape From Prison In Dust: Origins

As Gamescom ONL 2026 carried on, gamers were treated to many exciting and new announcements. One such premier was an upcoming horror-action shooter from Airship Syndicate.

Announced during Gamescom ONL 2026, Dust: Origins places players behind a small group of prisoners on Limbo-6, the orbital processing platform over the notorious prison planet Dros. As the station deteriorates, players must fight against both the station’s guards and monstrous creatures if they hope to escape alive. Developed by Airship Syndicate—makers of Darksiders: Genesis—the game is a blend of intense action and survival horror.

Taking the form of an isometric shooter, Dust: Origins also features a complex narrative structure as actions make a real difference in how the story unfolds, and players can venture down with multiple paths and receive multiple different endings. Players will also meet several unique NPCs that allow them to learn more about the station and assist them in their attempt to survive. Players will also need to explore the vast station, spanning several unique areas and unique themes—from cramped hallways to vast open areas navigated by vehicles.

The Gamescom ONL 2026 trailer also showcased a litany of character classes ranging from quick and nimble to massive mini-gun wielding behemoths. The trailer’s highlight seemed to suggest players will need to adapt in order to survive, which not only requires inventory and weapon management, but also crafting and character customization as they progress further through the station. The game wears its inspiration on our sleeves and our love of 80s and 90s action sci-fi is all over DUST: Origins.

No release date was set for Dust: Origins, however the game is available to wishlist on Steam.
