Exciting Gears of War 6 News Supposedly Landing In The Summer

During a new episode of the Kinda Funny Xcast titled “Xbox’s Unclear Future,” the host Parris Lilly commented that the next entry in the Gears of War franchise, Gears 6, could be dropping long-awaited news in the Summer.

Saying there has been no news regarding Gears 6 is being kind. The Coalition is playing things incredibly close to their chest regarding the next entry in the Gears of War franchise. The Coalition still has yet to officially announce the title since Gears 5 launched way back in 2019. In the longest draught between Gears titles, since it initially took off in 2006 (it has been five years with no end in sight), there has been some speculation brewing regarding the unannounced sequel. Kinda Funny Xcast host Parris Lilly posted on their official X (formerly Twitter) account highlighting the news, and it can be seen below.

During the Xcast, Lilly mentions, “When they showed the [Marvel 1943 trailer] in Unreal Engine 5 during GDC, I jokingly tweeted ‘imagine what Gears 6’ would look like in Unreal 5,” he then said, “And then somebody from The Coalition made a cryptic little subtweet under me about that,” this exchange can be seen below. The person who ‘subtweeted’ was the Technical Art Director for Gears of War (and almost certainly Gears 6), Colin Plenty.

The Xcast guest this time around was Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb, who has been known to forecast leaks and rumours accurately (like Silent Hill 2) before they’re officially announced. Grubb agreed with Lilly’s suggestion on Gears 6 revealing information this Summer and said, “I will say, I’ve heard some stuff might be happening with Gears 6 this summer, so I think that tease sounds about right to me, Parris. That seems like what we can expect.”

While virtually no official news has been given on Gears 6, including an official reveal, this exchange could bring the hype for those anticipating the next title in The Coalition’s Gears of War series. Fans can also watch the Kinda Funny Xcast episode entirely here.
