The next PlayStation Showcase could be happening this May 2024, according to a reputable insider with news that Konami’s Silent Hill 2 remake will be part of it.
The PlayStation State of Play presentation last January featured a trailer for the remake of Silent Hill 2, which showcased the game’s new combat system. There was no reveal of a release date from this recent presentation, but a retail leak suggested a May 2024 release, which has now been removed. The next PlayStation Showcase could potentially reveal the release date alongside more gameplay footage.
According to Jeff Grubb on the latest episode of Giant Bombcast, a PlayStation event could be happening in May 2024, and he reiterated his statement on Twitter (X) that the event is likely going to be a Showcase event instead of a State of Play. Grubb did not mention the exact date of the event but suggested that Silent Hill 2 news will probably be there.
In the podcast, Grubb also revealed that the Silent Hill 2 remake would be rated M, which has been corroborated by ESRB’s official listing for Silent Hill 2. ESRB lists the game coming out on PlayStation 5, which means this is referring to the remake instead of the original. A release window could be announced at the next event, as an ESRB rating usually suggests that a game’s release date will be revealed soon.
On Twitter(X), Grubb clarified that the next PlayStation event would not solely be about Silent Hill 2 and that gamers should expect to see other reveals during this event if the rumours presented during the podcast turn out to be true. If this is the case, then fans will have much more to look forward to this coming May 2024.
With all these speculations and insider knowledge being brought up, we can all hope to hear more about Silent Hill 2’s release soon.
