Hail Hydra!

GDC 2024: Huge Marvel 1943 Rise of Hydra Announcement!

At Epic’s State of Unreal keynote, Skydance Media briefly took the stage to announce the game they’ve been working on: Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra.

Epic Games’ State of Unreal showcase at GDC 2024 kicked off with a bang, with the official announcement and trailer for Skydance Media’s upcoming title, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, taking the spotlight. The title is apparently set in 1943 and shows that Captain America and Black Panther don’t see eye to eye on everything. You can watch the trailer below in all its glory.

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra will feature four playable characters, and the four characters have been revealed along with the cast. Khary Payton plays Azzuri, T’Challa’s grandfather and the WWII-era Black Panther; Drew Moerlein is Steve Rogers/Captain America. Megalyn Echikunwoke plays Nanali, a Wakandan spy in occupied Paris, and Marque Richardson plays Gabriel Jones, a US soldier and member of the Howling Commandos. Lyne Renée plays Julie, a key ally of the French Resistance, and Joel Johnstone completes the Skydance Media cast as Howard Stark.

To add to the star-studded cast, Skydance Media has also announced that the composer behind Marvel 1943 is Stephen Barton, known for his work on the Star Wars Jedi and Titanfall series of games. The four playable characters include the aforementioned WWII-era Black Panther, Captain America, Wakandan spy Nanali and US soldier Gabriel Jones. The title was probably unveiled at the State of Unreal showcase to show what Unreal Engine version 5.4 can do in the spotlight, and the trailer was effective.

Although the hype (and the title itself) is real, not much else has been revealed about Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra just yet, so fans can head over to the official Marvel website for more information in the meantime.
