CES 2024: GUNNAR Optiks Debuts Diverse Eyewear Collection

GUNNAR Optiks is looking to make some waves this CES 2024 with the unveiling of a range of new frames and styles ready to keep your eyes safe in 2024. With a series of new lines of blue light-blocking glasses ranging from professional to nerdy all ready to keep things exciting while saving your eyes from major strain. I was lucky enough to get a first look at the upcoming releases, pre-CES to get a take on what the brand hopes to bring to market this year.

Starting things off with a slightly more professional look, GUNNAR’s new Cupertino, Plaid, and Pismo collections feature sleek, lightweight magnesium frames with patented amber or clear lenses to filter blue light. The interchangeable magnetic lens inserts in the Cupertino model adapt to any lighting scenario. While the angular Plaid and minimalist square Pismo appeal more to men, the technology benefits all heavy device users. With prices ranging from $89-$200, GUNNAR aims to make blue light-blocking glasses as fashionable as they are functional.

Don’t worry, though, GUNNAR has not forgotten the gamers in their audience, with a range of new glasses that look stunning from early images. Perhaps the star of the show was the new range of glasses in collab with tokidoki, most notably the officially licensed Overwatch D.Va Tokki Edition glasses. These narrow, cat-eye acetate frames channel the style of elite gamer D.Va with their sparkling crystal colours and flexible spring hinges.

What makes them stand out are the metal D.Va bunny accents on the temples, an adorable nod to the character’s iconic bunny symbol. The Tokki Edition glasses will come in amber or clear tints when they launch next February. They have a range of new tokidoki frames, so if Overwatch is not your cup of tea, don’t worry; there are options.

The new Marvel collabs are perhaps the most exciting for me and I am sure many of our comic-loving audience. The new officially licensed X-Men glasses are modelled after Uncanny Wolverine and look fantastic. These blue and yellow frames invoke Wolverine’s iconic costume while providing “mutant-level protection” from eye strain with GUNNAR’s patented amber or clear lenses. They also announced a range of other frames, including a Groot wood frame, a Wolverine Adamantium frame that looks stunning, and a Deadpool frame ready for when Deadpool 3 finally hits theatres.

GUNNAR Optiks looks to be going all in this year, expanding beyond typical gamers and offering industry-leading glasses for all tastes and styles. Combine that with some exciting new collaborations and options for people who may need prescription lenses, and you have a winning formula, ready to take on the many issues of sitting in front of a computer most of the work day and well into the night as you game. As a fan of the lenses, I am excited to see these releases, and I, for one, am excited just to get to test them out in the coming year.
