The hit cozy game Hello Kitty Island Adventure is set to get a huge free update that will add a feast of new items, cosmetics, houses, and more.

The new update, titled “Welcome Home,” will release on October 8th and is mainly focused on decorating the newly added player homes. Player homes will start as a small, simple one-story bungalow but, through players’ efforts, will eventually evolve into a multi-floor mansion. You won’t have to fear living alone, though, as multiple Sanrio friends are excited to move into custom-made (by you) cabins right next door to yours.

The key to all of this sudden innovation is a little rabbit named Marroncream, originally from Paris; she now helps you create fabulous homes for you and your friends. Floor plans are one of Marroncream’s major additions, giving you a way to turn differently shaped rooms into cabins; your wildest floor plan dreams can finally see the light of Hello Kitty Island Adventure’s sun. These rooms eventually evolve in size and scope, providing the means and wherewithal to make a personal Hello McKitty mansion.

Cabin layouts and kits also play an important part in the update; both can be shared with other players while preserving all contents. It also offers a great way to adjust the layouts of every cabin you have without a lot of effort. With the addition of the creative mode room, you can test out these layouts beforehand as well. The room lets you use almost any item in the game to make a layout, which you can then share with friends or use to generate a list of items to get in-game to build it.

While we all hate getting unsolicited mail, Hello Kitty Island Adventure has solved that problem entirely. Mainly thanks to mailboxes that occasionally return lost items, let you return gifts, and let you get collections from the Nul Collecter Box. As a bonus, your island-going friends also have mailboxes, which, once a character reaches a certain number of hearts, will let you enable auto-gifting.

To celebrate the welcome home update, the developers and Sanrio are introducing something called Friend Pass. On PC via Steam, anyone who owns Hello Kitty Island Adventure can invite friends to try the game, enabling cooperative play and access to part of the game’s early content. If you’re itching for even more Hello Kitty Island Adventure, then check out the official website or the dedicated Discord server.
