Homeworld 3 Gets Release Date at PC Gaming Show

At today’s PC Gaming Show, Homeworld 3 made a splash with its release date announcement for Steam and the Epic Games Store on March 8, 2024.

The first Homeworld was launched in 1999, and Homeworld 2 was launched in 2003. Twenty years later, we are finally catching glimpses of Homeworld 3, and now, with an official launch in place, fans can really get excited. Developed by Blackbird Interactive and published by Gearbox Software, the team behind this RTS is excited to finally see it come to fruition.

“The Homeworld community has waited actual decades for this launch. We’re thrilled that their wait will finally be rewarded this March as players will be able to command the Mothership and continue their adventures,” said President of Gearbox Publishing, Steve Gibson. “We’re grateful to BBI for their incredible work, and to the players for communicating with us and ultimately trusting us with Homeworld’s legacy. Hopefully they feel that we’ve done it proper justice.”

CGMagazine got to check out Homeworld 3 at gamescom 2022, and our writer Eduard Gafton had this to say, “Homeworld 3 manages a good balance between being both reverent and innovative. To praise the most important new feature, I loved making use of the terrain at hand in order to hide my troops and then attack at the most opportune time.”
