Intel has revealed its benchmark for its upcoming 11th Gen Core H-series processor, code-named Tiger lake-H and claims the Core i9 chip will beat the AMD Ryzen 5900HX in gaming performance.
Intel says its new laptop flagship, the Intel Core i9-11980HK, is a significant performance upgrade over its 10th Gen “Comet Lake” Series processors. The new processor’s foundation was built upon an evolved version of the 10-nanometer Willow Cove core microarchitecture found in existing Tiger Lake CPUs for the company’s family of laptop processors.

The Intel Core i9-11980HK will clock at 65W and the new processor will provide a 19 percent ‘gen-on-gen multithreaded performance’ improvement. As far as gaming performance goes, Intel says the Core-i9 11th Gen processor will deliver an improved frame rate—compared to its ‘Comet Lake’ processor—over titles like Hitman 3, Far Cry New Dawn, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege.
Intel calls out its competitors and claims that the Core i9-11980HK will outperform AMD’s Ryzen 9 5900HX on these game titles. They don’t stop there, adding that its Core i5-11400H line will do the same to AMD’s Ryzen 9 5900HS on some titles and come close to matching performance on others.

During the presentation of the Tiger lake-H chipset, Intel did not mention the battery life. This is very telling as AMD’s processors in this department have not been beaten in the last two years. What is known as far as specs are that the Tiger Lake-H processor will support 44 platform PCIe lanes, Thunderbolt 4 (up to 40Gbps bandwidth), discrete Intel Killer Wi-Fi 6E (Gig+), Optane H20, overclocking with Intel’s Speed Optimizer (on some SKUs) and turbo boost up to 5.0Ghz with Intel’s Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0.
The Core i9-11980HK shipped to manufacturers on May 4th with many of its partners are taking preorders for the H-series processor to include in upcoming laptop offerings. Those partners include Acer, Dell, Lenovo, Razer, HP, Gigabyte and more.
