John Cena’s role in Nickelodeon’s upcoming Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has been revealed.
John Cena will be taking on the role of the brand new villain character, Baron Draxum, which Nickelodeon is describing as an alchemist warrior turned mutant.
Baron Draxum, originally from the Hidden City and the self-proclaimed protector of all mutant-kind. His unrivalled intellect and brute strength allow Draxum to challenge the Turtles. Draxum wishes to mutate all of Humanity by unleashing his horde of insect-like creatures called Oozesquitoes.
“I’ve always been a fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise, so getting the opportunity to voice a character, especially the villain Baron Draxum, is truly special,” said Cena.
Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is the latest iteration of the legendary franchise and is being helmed by co-executive Andy Suriano (character designer on Samurai Jack) and Ant Ward (supervising producer on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles). The new series will be directed by veteran voice actor Rob Paulsen.
