Two Mentors Come Together

Sony Unveils First Post For Karate Kid: Legends

The next entry in the Karate Kid saga finally has a name, Karate Kid: Legends, along with a snazzy new poster.

The sixth installment was announced last November by Ralph Macchio and renowned martial arts icon Jackie Chan. What’s really interesting, however, is that the film will unit the two disparate Karate Kid series — both the original movies with Macchio as Daniel Larusso and the 2010 remake that starred Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith. The two actors will reprise their roles as mentors for a new Karate Kid, played by Ben Wang (Mean Girls 2024). The film will also start Joshua Jackson and Ming-Na Wen.

You can see the new poster below, which definitely leans into the 80s and 90s vibes of the original films.

Karate Kid: Legends shifts the series to the East Coast and follows a teenager from China who trains with a mentor who, like Mr. Miyagi, is tough but wise. The film is directed by Johnathan Entwistle (I’m Not Okay With This, The End of the F***ing World) and will have a screenplay written by Rob Lieber. It’s currently planned to arrive exclusively in movie theaters on May 30, 2025.

Of course, that’s not the only Karate Kid-related thing on the horizon, as the final season of Kobra Kai is about to debut its second part. A third and final part will arrive sometime in 2025. Netflix’s Tudum gave a few extra details on what to expect.

Lewis Tan, Patrick Luwis, and Rayna Vallandingham will be joining the cast of Kobra Kai, playing students who are part of a competing dojo at the Sekai Taikai.

Co-creator Hayden Schlossberg tells Tudum, “The first thing that you’re going to notice is we’re not in the Valley anymore. It’s a totally different environment. The competitive space is different from previous All Valley tournaments. There’s no crowd watching. This is a karate temple that they’re going to, where the only people in attendance are black belts or karate masters.”

Kobra Kai Season 6 Part 2 hits Netflix on November 15.
