Magic: Legends Reveals Geomancer and Mind Mage Classes

Magic: Legends Reveals Geomancer and Mind Mage Classes 2

Perfect World Entertainment and Cryptic Studios have released the first gameplay trailer for Magic: Legends, the new free-to-play MMORPG based on the iconic strategy card game, Magic: The Gathering. The trailer outlines the basic game structure, where players become Planeswalkers and save the multiverse, while exploring some of the MTG franchise’s most iconic planes.

Beta testing for Magic: Legends will kick off this spring, with two planeswalker classes available to beta testers: the Geomancer and the Mind Mage. Those interested in joining the beta can sign up online now.

Much like the Planeswalkers of Magic: the Gathering, Magic: Legends’ Geomancer and Mind Mage have very familiar powers. Geomancers can draw on the power of the Earth to pummel enemies in close quarters with stone and lava attacks. They can also absorb blows that would incapacitate other Planeswalkers with handy rock shields, and they can call on creatures like goblins, kavu, and earth elementals to aid them.

Mind Mages, on the other hand, focus on psychic attacks from a distance, controlling projectlies with telekinetic powers. Mind Mages, like their name implies, can also control their enemies and force them to attack their allies, or put them to sleep to take them off the field.

Magic: Legends is a top-down MMO Action RPG from the developers of Neverwinter. Players will become Planeswalkers and fight alongside iconic characters and legendary creatures made popular by the original card game. Players can choose from five distinct classes and switch between different Planeswalkers at any time. They will also discover spells and collect spell fragments to upgrade their abilities as they cross various planes during gameplay.

While Magic: Legends is a real-time action MMO, spells will be arranged in hands and will be drawn at random during attacks. So there will still be a card game aspect to the gameplay.

“Our entire team was overwhelmed by the incredible response we received from gamers and Magic: The Gathering fans when we announced Magic: Legends last month,” said Stephen Ricossa, executive producer for Magic: Legends. “Now, we’re excited to reveal a first look at what makes this game truly special. We can’t wait for players to assume the role of a Planeswalker and collect powerful spells to take on some of the most dangerous adversaries in the known multiverse.”

The MMORPG will launch on PC this year while the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions will release in 2021.
