SQUARE ENIX finally gave fans a release date, and the conclusion is coming on April 8, 2027. Final Fantasy VII Revelation opens the whole world to players, and fans can literally jump over the railing of the Highwind to land on the surface of the planet.

The entirety of the planet is up to the player to explore to their heart’s content. Piko, the Chocobo, will help you traverse and explore the world, just like in Rebirth. Piko can also help in combat, and the bird mount evolves with your team.

While out exploring in Final Fantasy VII Revelation, fans can control whichever party member they want at a whim, and you can switch the controlled character whenever you want, similar to how the Tales series functions. Wutai was shown off, and players can deploy their parachute when jumping out of the Highwind in hopes they land exactly where they want. In the gameplay demo, the player satisfyingly landed in the town of Wutai’s centre square.

Final Fantasy Vii Revelation Sgf 2026: Final Fantasy Vii Revelation Concludes The Remake Trilogy Next Spring

The Sony State of Play also uncorked new areas like Rocket Town, and each area you have visited on the overworld will be available to fast travel to, so you don’t have to sky dive from the Highwind all the time. Like in the other two Final Fantasy VII Remake titles, your party can also take on odd jobs around the world, and help citizens with slaying monsters. You can even run into familiar faces from the previous two Remake titles.

A new fast forward feature has been added to cutscenes, letting fans speed up cutscenes to play the game at their own pace (and to help fans who are playing a second time). On top of that, players are able to step behind the visor of specific party members to get their perspective on any given scenario, and see how each narrative beat changes based on the character in control.

Sony State Of Play September 2026: Everything Announced!

Queen’s Blood returns from Rebirth, which sees Red XIII take on all challengers outside of the battlefield and with trading cards. Final Fantasy VII Revelation concludes the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy (which will be available for purchase as a bundle) and launches on April 8, 2027.  On top of that, the title is available for pre-order (in trilogy and standalone formats), and it comes with an exclusive Magic: The Gathering reprint for Final Showdown, featuring a clash between Cloud and Sephiroth.

That wraps up the Sony State of Play September 2026 presentation. Fans looking for more information on any of these developments can head to the official Sony website.
