As part of XBOX 25th Anniversary celebrations, some of the biggest XBOX titles are launching McDonald’s game-inspired menu items as part of the celebration.
McDonald’s is partnering with XBOX as part of its 25th anniversary to offer in-game rewards for some of the brand’s most recognizable gaming franchises. These franchises include Halo, Fallout, and Forza. Blizzard Entertainment properties (being that they’re an XBOX property now) are joining the equation with World of Warcraft, Candy Crush and Overwatch to round out the ensemble at McDonald’s.
SVP, chief marketing officer for McDonald’s UK and Ireland, Tim Kenward, says, “Gaming is all about imagination and the worlds we love to get lost in,” adding, “What excites me about this partnership is that we’re bringing parts of these iconic gaming worlds to life, giving fans the chance to experience food they have only ever seen on screen. As a huge Fallout fan, I’m most excited for the Blamco Cheesy Potato Bites.”
This could be a new incentive for XBOX to get out from the weeds they continually find themselves in after their announced XBOX Reset has gone over poorly for the entire game industry (including those laid off in that time). Recently, XBOX partnered with IKEA to launch the “Play Like A Pro” sweepstakes and tease an official collaboration. It appears XBOX is attempting to push the brand in new directions with new incentives and company collaborations. Even food and furniture are territory worth exploring. XBOX CEO Asha Sharma also recently dropped the bomb that the scope of Elder Scrolls VI is “incredible,” adding, “The story is even greater.” XBOX seems to be trying to right its troubled waters by any means necessary.
Each game listed as part of the collaboration will have a unique item added to the menu in celebration, and in-game rewards will be distributed with these items. They’re referred to as Side Missions, and each title has a unique in-game reward distribution from McDonald’s listed below. While all of the food items have yet to be revealed as part of the collab, Fallout‘s Blamco Cheesy Potato Bites have been confirmed by the SVP himself.

Fans will need to keep their eyes peeled on the official McDonald’s UK app for further collaboration items to be revealed, and for timing on when they will be available.
