The Mighty Nein, the adult animated show based on Critical Role’s second campaign, has landed a bit early — and you can watch it entirely for free. The rest of the series is scheduled to premiere on November 19, 2025.
The entire first episode is currently available on Prime Video’s YouTube channel. And, of course, you can watch it again when the full season releases.
The show follows in the footsteps of The Legend of Vox Machina, which had its third season premiere on Prime last year. While The Legend of Vox Machina adapted Critical Role’s Dungeons & Dragons campaign one, The Mighty Nein adapts the group’s campaign two. You can watch it on Critical Role’s channels, but in case you’re not familiar, here’s the official synopsis,
“The Mighty Nein tracks a group of outcasts, criminals and misfits forced to work together when an arcane artifact is stolen by wizard assassins. After the relic, known as “The Beacon,” causes a massive border explosion, sending Wildemount to the brink of war, the Mighty Nein unwittingly becomes the only hope at stopping reality itself from unraveling.”
By and large, The Mighty Nein seems to be a touch darker than The Legend of Vox Machina. The new show has only been confirmed for one season as of now, but considering the ongoing success of Vox Machina — it seems entirely likely that could change.
The entire cast from Critical Role will return to play their characters in the show, including Laura Bailey as Jester Lavorre, Marisha Ray as Beauregard “Beau” Lionett, Matthew Mercer as Essek Tehlyss, and Liam O’Brien as Caleb Widogast.
The showrunner is Tasha Huo, who worked on Netflix’s animated adaptations The Witcher: Blood Origin and Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft
The Might Nein releases exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on November 9.
