Capcom announced their plans to collaborate with Puma for a Monster Hunter 20-year celebratory merchandise collection.

There have been countless strange video game collaborations to date, from Burger King’s classic cult-hit Xbox games to a Destinythemed cookbook. This next one makes a little more sense. Today, Capcom announced they will be collaborating with Puma to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Monster Hunter game series. The anniversary will be celebrated on March 11, 2024, so fans can expect some interesting merch to hit stores then.

“To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Monster Hunter series, a collaboration with the global sports brand Puma is in the works,” an announcement on both Capcom and Puma’s websites reads. “The Puma x Monster Hunter collection will be launched in the 2024 season. We plan to release a number of collaboration products featuring newly-drawn illustrations – please look forward to further information on the release date and other details.”

The news was announced with a special image showing a Monster Hunter Palico riding the Puma logo. Will that be an actual design, who knows? It would be awesome to see some cool Vaal Hazak and Magnamalo designs. Fans can probably expect some carefully-drawn iterations of Rathalos appearing on some shirt or maybe a hoodie. The ideas are endless!

They also posted a commemoration note on Twitter/X and the anniversary website: “With these 20 years of success behind us, we hope to ride this momentum and bring you bigger, better, and even more exciting hunting experiences that will thrill and surprise you. We invite you, dear hunters, to join us on the journey ahead.”

Back in December 2023, at the Game Awards, Capcom announced Monster Hunter Wilds, which will be the next major Monster Hunter game. The game is expected to be released in 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC, with more information set to be revealed in Summer 2024. The series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto stated that “this announcement is just the start, so there’s a lot about the game we can’t go into detail about yet” while mentioning that fans will have a lot of time “dissecting” the trailer for what the new game will have to offer.
