Series Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto took the stage at The Game Awards to announce Monster Hunter: Wilds this evening.
Capcom have been hard at work lately, with the Resident Evil remakes, Street Fighter 6, and more, and have now announced the next title in the Monster Hunter series called Monster Hunter: Wilds. Speaking through an interpreter, Tsujimoto was able to confirm that Monster Hunter: Wilds is “planned for release in 2025”.
Monster Hunter: Wilds will be the latest release in the long-running series that goes back all the way to the first game released in 2004 on the PlayStation 2. Monster Hunter: Wilds is expected to pick up from Monster Hunter: World which released back in 2018 and had a Switch port called Monster Hunter: Rise. Not much else is known at this time about Monster Hunter: Wilds, but we can expect more information to be announced in the coming months.
The trailer showcased the player character riding on the back of a monster whilst fleeing from a horde of larger animals stampeding towards them, and also outrunning a dust storm. Capcom is going to great lengths to ensure that this popular series continues on with an apparent sprawling landscape and a lot of fan-favourite Monster Hunter creatures.
Planned for a 2025 release on PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam, this popular action-RPG series seems ready to take the leap onto current-gen consoles and PC, and we can’t wait to see what new additions this title will bring to the series. Behind Resident Evil, Monster Hunter is Capcom‘s second-best selling franchise, and this sixth main entry to the series has every chance to be just as popular as the rest.
