Necropolis Coming to Consoles With the Help of Bandai Namco

1

Bandai Namco has entered into a partnership with indie developer Harebrained Schemes to bring their upcoming title, Necropolis to the PS4 and Xbox One.

Originally intended for PC, Necropolis got the industry’s attention at PAX East last year. That’s where Bandai Namco discovered the title. It impressed the publisher enough, that they decided to partner with the studio to bring it across platforms, with Harebrained studios self-publishing the Steam version of the game, and Bandai Namco publishing the console versions.

This move comes at a cost, however. If you were looking forward to the game’s March 2016 release date, you’ll have to wait until Summer this year. “While we really hate to slip a release date, we know from experience that doing a console release right adds a significant amount of development work,” said Harebrained Schemes’ President Mitch Gitelman in a press release.

If you haven’t heard anything about Necropolis, it’s a third-person action adventure title with procedurally generated dungeons. You never play the same area twice. There was some excitement about the title coming out of PAX East 2015, so bringing the title to a larger audience can only be a good thing, even if we have to wait a few more months.
