Digital Sun has released a new trailer and gameplay for Cataclismo, a real-time strategy and builder game for PC on Steam and GOG, set to release on July 16, 2024.
Cataclismo’s new trailer from the Triple-i Initiatives livestream showcases the gameplay of the player building a castle as the range of troops defend the building from the enemies. With the gameplay being showcased, it gives a brief detail about the lore of the game about the empire that fell centuries ago, and it’s the player’s responsibility to build it back up as they seek refuge and fight against the hordes of horrors before they can destroy their building.
With the new Cataclismo trailer, gameplay with the developers was released, providing a new, never-before-seen gameplay for a level and extensive detail about the game’s structure. Vincent Ramirez (Creative Director) and Isreal Mallan (Communication Manager) walk us through a level titled Mistfuel Firepower, diving deep into the game mechanics as they build their defence tower and assign their troops, introduced to a new horror called Centaur, and give a gist about the lore.
Announced on May 18, 2023, at the Humble Game Showcase, Cataclismo is a mix of real-time strategy and tower defence. The building mechanic and gathering resources are inspired by LEGO, giving you the chance to be creative and effective as you build the stronghold in the morning to defend yourself from the hordes of horrors at night.
The game is about how the Cataclismo left the world in devastation, but you join Lady Iris as you rebuild the world with hope, resilience, and the community in a 30+ hours single-player campaign. Alongside the campaign comes plenty of modes to keep you busy, such as Survival Mode, which allows you to fight endless waves of horrors, build without fear of horrors in Creative Mode, or overcome a selection of hand-crafted maps in Skirmish Mode.
With a proven track record in game development, Digital Sun, the team behind Moonlighter, an Action RPG with roguelike elements, and The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story, an Action RPG about Sylas, a mage who broke free from years of captivity, is now venturing into new genres with Cataclismo. This self-published game promises to be a unique addition to their portfolio, exploring the realms of real-time strategy and builder games.
