Playstation to End PS Plus Support for PS3 and PS Vita Next Year

PlayStation is ending its PlayStation Plus support for PlayStation 3 and PS Vita owners on March 8, 2019.

The company announced the news today and it means PlayStation Plus on the two consoles will only be able to download games until March 8th, 2019. PlayStation Plus is the company’s rewards program and internet service pass. It launched back in June of 2010 as an optional game subscriptions service for the PlayStation 3 and has since offered hundreds of games to its members. The service currently costs $11.99 CAD per month and PlayStation offers discounts if you commit for a longer amount of time.

Sony did also clarify that PS3 and Vita subscribers will continue to receive new games until the March 8th cutoff date. Furthermore, player’s who have downloaded PS Plus Free games in the past on PS3 and Vita will be able to play them after March 8th, as long as they continue to pay the monthly PlayStation Plus membership fee.

For PlayStation 4 owners, PlayStation Plus is required to game online or use the internet,  but the service is not required to play online if you have a PlayStation 3 or PS Vita. This month’s PlayStation Plus games include Blooodborne and Ratchet and Clank.
