Sony Goes Hard on PSVR2 in New PlayStation State of Play

Sony’s June 2, 2022 PlayStation State of Play stream unveiled a number of major titles coming to PSVR2, including Resident Evil 4 Remake and Horizon Call of the Mountain.

The month of June is going to be jam packed with game announcements from Summer Game Fest, the Xbox & Bethesda Showcase and more. Sony wanted to kick off the month with the PlayStation State of Play today, and they brought a pile of PSVR2 announcements to the table.

Resident Evil 4 Remake

Capcom officially unveiled Resident Evil 4 Remake during the stream, announcing that the game will release on March 24, 2023. While the remake will get some PSVR2 love, that content may be different from the main game. They announced that PlayStation VR2 content is also in development.

Resident Evil Village

Additionally, Resident Evil 8 Village will get a PSVR2 update, though Capcom did not provide a release date yet for Village PSVR2.

The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution

Skydance Interactive and Skybound Entertainment will be bringing The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution to both PSVR and PSVR2. The sequel will release this year and will feature a number of technical and immersive improvements on PSVR2.

No Man’s Sky

While No Man’s Sky has been available on PSVR for some time now, the game will see a PSVR2 update which will likely include some nice graphic improvements with the upgrade. This one is still in development, so the exact nature of the PSVR2 version isn’t yet certain.

Horizon Call of the Mountain

Guerilla Games is bringing the Horizon series to PSVR2 with Horizon Call of the Mountain, which will be a PSVR2 exclusive. Additionally, Horizon Forbidden West has received a major gameplay update which includes New Game Plus and an Ultra difficulty level.

Sony leaned hard into VR this “State of Play” which coincides with the upcoming launch of PSVR2.
