“We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to those affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake,” said Sony President Kazuo Hirai.  “While we continue to make every effort to help the recovery of the affected communities in the region, I would like to express our gratitude to every single PlayStation user across the world who made a contribution to the effort.”

The Great East Japan Earthquake relief effort runs through the PlayStation Network and offers special custom themes to all who donate to the cause, with all proceeds going to either the Red Cross or the Red Feather Community Chest. The program is operating in forty countries and will continue until further notice. It’s yet another heartwarming example of people banding together to help those in need, and it even makes one proud to be a gamer.
