Report: Microsoft Looking to Bring Fable Back

Reports have begun swirling that there is going to be a new Fable game on the Xbox One. This would mean a return to the forefront of gaming for the series, which has remained in gaming purgatory ever since Microsoft shutdown Lionhead Studios in 2016.

The aforementioned reports are indicating that the studio behind Forza Horizon, Playground Games, will be helming the new addition to the series. Playground Games will apparently be dedicating 200 people to the game in a brand new office located in England’s Leamington Spa.

The game is reportedly set to be an open-world RPG with a focus on story and character development.

When asked about the reports, a Microsoft spokesperson said, “We do not comment on rumours or speculation.”

This is the first attempt at a new addition to the Fable series since the shutdown of Lionhead Studios back in 2016, when they were working on Fable Legends, a free-to-play game with a heavy focus on multiplayer, as opposed to the singleplayer heavy gameplay of the originals.

While there’s been reports of the series returning to the limelight, it won’t be anytime soon as development on the new addition to the series has just started. But fret not Fable fans, you might just be able to return to Albion once again.
