Announced via press release, ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) and XREAL revealed the global pre-order availability of the ROG XREAL R1, the world’s first 240Hz micro-OLED gaming AR glasses. Pre-orders via Best Buy will open on May 15, 2026 at 11:30AM EST, and on the XREAL Official Store will open on May 17, 2026, at 3AM EST.
The R1 is engineered to deliver universal compatibility across the handheld market and the broader ROG ecosystem. While it serves as a premium plug-and-play solution for diverse mobile and handheld devices, R1 reaches its peak potential as an integrated extension of the ROG Ally. Built on XREAL’s industry-leading XR technology, the R1 delivers a massive 171″ inch virtual screen, a 1920 x 1080p display, and up to 240Hz refresh rate and near-instant 0.01ms response time.
With the XREAL X1 spatial computing chip, R1 delivers native 3 Degrees of Freedom (3DoF)
support, enabling intuitive spatial interaction that allows users to fix the display in space or have
it move seamlessly with their field of view. This assists the R1 in bridging the gap between
traditional gaming and spatial presence through real-time 2D-to-3D conversion, adding lifelike
depth and scale to existing game libraries.
Not only that, but the ROG XREAL R1 utilizes the ROG Control Dock to seamlessly connect with the ASUS DisplayWidget Center software, letting users customize their virtual screens easily via keyboard and mouse for streamlined system-wide control. AI Visual technology further elevates the experience by automatically detecting on-screen content and adjusting to the viewing mode.
