Rumored Assassin's Creed Game Titled Assassin's Creed Origins

Rumors suggest that the next title in the Assassin’s Creed franchise will be named Assassin’s Creed Origins.

A report from WWG claims that Ubisoft’s 2017 Assassin’s Creed game will be titled Origins. The game will be an open-world adventure set in Egypt. The structure of the upcoming title is planned to be less linear than previous entries, featuring a character progression system less tied to the game’s story. Assassin’s Creed Origins will feature male and female lead characters, focusing on the story around the original assassin’s guild. When an inside development source spoke on the game, comparisons were made to Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, a number of times. Assassin’s Creed Origins is said to be the largest title in the series ever created by Ubisoft. The game is rumored to not only have a fully developed ancient Egypt but other locations as well such as Greece and other places in the ancient world. Boats are said to return in Assassin’s Creed Origins along with naval combat, letting players sail the Mediterranean. Assassin’s Creed Origins is set to launch in fall 2017.

Kotaku previously reported on the state of the Assassin’s Creed franchise last year and information leaks from a user on 4chan boards about the next major title. Their speculation on the next entry was that it was code-named Empire and that it was set in ancient Egypt. Claims were also made that a tragedy would be made around the lead character, potentially exploring Greece or Rome in later entries. Confirmation on these claims have yet to be confirmed.

The last entry in the Assassin’s Creed series was the 2015 title Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. Developed for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, the game follows twin assassins Jacob and Evie as they reclaim Victorian ere London from Templar control. The game received positive reviews from critics, praising the visuals and major characters. The game was considered a major improvement from the previous year’s entry, Assassin’s Creed Unity. After skipping 2016, fans of the series await the new title, likely to be shown at this year’s E3.
