One of the world’s biggest pop stars, Taylor Swift is speculated to be in the next Deadpool sequel based on her guests at last night’s football game.
Taylor Swift has been trending all over the internet and media outlets as fans scrounge up their savings to get a seat on her record-breaking Eras tour. But when the pop star is not on-stage, she has been spotted supporting her Kansas City Chiefs partner Travis Kelce from the stands, along with other notable guests of late. However, the latest development saw Swift in the stands at last night’s game between the New York Jets and KC Chiefs at the MetLife Stadium, appearing with Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Hugh Jackman and Shawn Levy.
Of course, the men mentioned all have just worked on Deadpool 3, so was this a regular hangout, or a confirmation of them in talks for a Taylor Swift cameo? It would make sense as Reynolds is the titular character of the R-rated franchise; Jackman has been confirmed to reprise his role as Wolverine; and Levy was set to direct this third installment.
Now, even some footage from Twitter’s Marvel speculator Thrawn Sage showed the group walking together throughout the MetLife Stadium. They commented, “I keep saying Taylor Swift is going to be in Deadpool 3 and nobody believes me.” Many fans online have already said it would be very on the nose if the pop star played Dazzler, due to her shimmering star power in all of her performances.
From the Marvel comics, Dazzler’s abilities also came from converting sound vibrations into light energy attacks and protection. This was first seen in a live-action format in X-Men: Dark Phoenix when Halston Sage played the character for the first time. Everything seems to be pointing towards Swift stepping into the dazzling character, and it was not the first time she was teased for the role.
Rumours sparked back in 2022 when Reynolds teased a cameo in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. He was asked if Swift would be joining the MCU, and he replied, “Are you kidding me? I would do anything for that woman. She’s a genius.” Swift has been known to make a few cameos, some being in the movie Valentine’s Day and in TV shows like New Girl and CSI.
Another surprising guest spotted with her at the game was Sophie Turner, another Marvel/X-Men alumni. Turner portrayed Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse and X-Men: Dark Phoenix, and was a major star in the hit HBO series Game of Thrones. This may hint at Turner making a reappearance in the series as well. Seeing a Taylor Swift cameo in Deadpool 3 would be both surprising yet seems like it could easily work depending on how they write her character. Deadpool 3 is expected to hit theaters on May 3, 2024.
