Sam Raimi Teases Return To The Evil Dead Franchise

Sam Raimi, director of the original Evil Dead trilogy and produced the show, says early work has begun on a brand new movie.

In a new interview with Bloody-Disgusting about the killer alligator movie Crawl that Raimi produced, he was asked about the future of the Evil Dead franchise. Raimi responded that he’d love to make another one, and that he “[doesn’t] think TV is in its future but we’re talking about – Bruce [Campbell], Rob [Tapert] and myself – one or two different ways to go for the next movie.” He adds, “We’d like to make another Evil Dead feature and in fact we’re working on some ideas right now.”

The big question is whether the movie would follow the events of the Ash storyline, and once again star Bruce Campbell, continue the storyline of the remake, or have an entirely new plot. It turns out Raimi and company have put some thought into this, and have one idea for if Bruce Campbell comes back, one idea for Campbell opting out but Fede Álvarez – who directed the remake – being able to return, and another idea if neither come to pass.

Raimi concluded the interview by implying that we could see some news on the Evil Dead movie in the next six months. When that news happens, we’ll be there to deliver it.
