During the spookiest month of the year, PlayStation Plus Extra is reportedly getting Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 Remake to keep tensions high for Halloween.
The latest official news regarding the Silent Hill franchise was revealed at the KONAMI Press Start showcase, where KONAMI announced that Bloober Team would be remaking Silent Hill in the same vein as the sequel. To prepare fans for the origin story (and Halloween), it appears PlayStation Plus Extra will be getting the critically acclaimed Silent Hill 2 to add to the service for the occasion. The report comes from the reliable leaker from Dealabs, Billbil-kun, and they say the remake will land on the service on October 21.
Aside from Dealabs, another hit-or-miss horror leaker from X, Dusk Golem, has chimed in with the same insistence, claiming the remake will land on the service (among other things). This isn’t the first time either source has leaked something from Silent Hill game development, as they’ve correctly assumed proper occurrences in game development from the franchise before. Dusk Golem and Dealabs have been revealing early Silent Hill 2 details since May 2022, including Bloober Team’s involvement, before the official announcement in October 2022.
The offerings that have already landed on PlayStation Plus for October are Alan Wake 2, Goat Simulator 3 and Cocoon, Silent Hill 2 would just add to the already suspenseful October lineup. CGMagazine’s review of Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 says, “Bloober Team has pulled off something remarkable with this remake. They’ve managed to stay true to the original’s spirit while crafting an experience that feels fresh and relevant in 2024.”
Although the leakers may have gotten information correct or nearly correct before, fans should take leaks with a grain of salt until an official announcement is made. The official PlayStation Plus additions for October can be found on their site in the meantime.
