Caldera Interactive, an Edmonton native studio, has announced that its new game, The Rabbit Haul, will be featured on Steam Next Fest this June.
The Rabbit Haul is a tower-defence-esque game that puts players into the paws of Sprout, a little rabbit that has an unwavering commitment to rebuilding its hometown. The hometown in question has been destroyed and ransacked by the Trash Panda Posse, a villainous gang that shows up every night in attempts to cause more damage. The good news is that you have help, in the form of plants that you sow every morning, and come night, they defend the farm in various ways.
“We wanted to make the game we wanted to make, and blend existing fan-favourite genres. The Rabbit Haul brings a fresh new perspective to the table — think Stardew Valley farming by day, Cult of the Lamb chaos by night. You spend your days growing crops and building plant defences, then at sundown a gang of raccoons shows up to test every decision you made,” said CEO of Caldera Interactive, Isael Huard.
The demo by itself has already garnered a 100% positive rating on Steam, with features included even for streamers that will inevitably stream the game. The main draw is that viewers of any The Rabbit Haul stream will be able to join the game as a member of the Trash Panda Posse itself. Meaning that the audience can choose which roguelite upgrade cards the streamer gets, along with causing general havoc on any playthrough.

“We built the Twitch integration because we wanted watching The Rabbit Haul to feel as fun as playing it. Seeing viewers flood in as raccoons to wreck a streamer’s garden, and hearing the streamer laugh, told us we got it right,” said Lead Programmer, Mickael Zeriboun.
Following its showcase at the Steam Next Fest this June, The Rabbit Haul will eventually come to the Nintendo Switch later on in 2026. Check out The Rabbit Haul’s demo on Steam and enjoy the plant-based weapons of defence before the incoming full release.
