THQ Nordic Re-Releases Red Faction for PS4

THQ Nordic Re-Releases Red Faction for PS4 1

THQ Nordic is back at it again, this time porting Red Faction to the PlayStation 4. According to a press release, the 2001 shooter is now available for Sony’s home console for $19.99 CAD (or $14.99 USD).

Red Faction takes players to Mars in the midst of a revolution. Players traverse 20 levels, five different vehicle types (all of which come with mounted weapons), and 15 weapons to wreak havoc in a destructible environment. When the game initially launched on the PlayStation 2, PC, Mac and later the Nokia N-Gage it received mostly positive ratings from fans and critics alike. While many praised Red Faction for its mayhem and carnage, many felt it lacked any depth from the cast.

“Playing Red Faction for the first time is one of my favorite memories on ‘PlayStation 2’,” said Reinhard Pollice, Business and Product Development Director at THQ Nordic in a press release. “The team at THQ Nordic is thrilled to be able to share that experience with a whole new generation of players on ‘PlayStation 4’. Ripping a hole through the surface of Mars to access a hidden tunnel for a surprise take-down is about as satisfying as a shooter can get!”

THQ Nordic prides itself on its library which includes Red Faction, Darksiders, MX vs. ATV, and Titan’s Quest. The publisher has been re-releasing their properties quite a bit recently with Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition, and more recently, Darksiders: Warmastered Edition. But that doesn’t mean they’re exclusively in the business of making high res ports of their old titles, the publisher is currently gearing up for the 2017 launches of the classic RPG inspired Battle Chasers: Nightwar, the action RPG Elix, and the underwater adventure Aquanox: Deep Descent. Currently THQ Nordic is riding high after a successful release of We Sing on the PlayStation 4.
