AMC released a new image teasing the second half of The Walking Dead’s eighth season.
The teaser features series mainstays Daryl, Michonne and Rick in the middle of a battle with the caption, “Last Stand” emblazoned across the image. The Walking Dead will return on February 25th on AMC to kick off the seasons final eight episodes.
The press release also included a description of what’s in store for those final eight episodes and it seems to be focused mainly on Rick and his son Carl’s relationship. Carl, who was bitten by a walker at the end of the mid-season finale, appears to be headed to an early grave, which would have a devastating effect on Rick. While he could potentially survive the zombie bite it seems unlikely, especially since the actor who plays Carl has previously stated that season eight will be his final season as a member of the show.

The Walking Dead is based off a comic book series of the same name which was created by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore back in 2003. The show portrays life in the weeks and months after the zombie apocalypse and is centred around police officer Rick Grimes, his family and a group of other survivors. Recently the TV show has strayed from its source material and the apparent decision to eliminate Carl from the show, who is still alive and well in the comic series, is one of the biggest departures to date.
The Walking Dead has been confirmed for a ninth season which is set to debut sometime in October of this year.
