WB Offically Announces Middle-Earth: Shadow of War 1

Amongst rumours and leaks, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced that Middle-Earth: Shadow of War is in development from Monolith Productions.

The sequel to the best-selling game, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, that tasks the series heroes Talion and Celebrimbor, with forging a new army that will eventually turn all of Mordor against the dark lord himself, Sauron, continues the open world gameplay players enjoyed in the first game of the series.  This new instalment will offer a whole new series of enemies and challenges for players to overcome. Taking place between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, players will enjoy new powers, while more of the Dark Lord’s armies are working against you, including the Nazgul.

“Monolith Productions continues to innovate by introducing deeper, more personalized gameplay experiences, coupled with authentic storytelling,” said David Haddad, President, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “Middle-Earth: Shadow of War truly drives the genre forward by taking the Nemesis System to new heights and allowing players to create their own personal journey within Middle-earth.”

“Following the amazing reception to Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, we massively expanded every dimension of the game, including the world, the story, the RPG systems, the core gameplay and of course the personal player stories of the Nemesis System,” said Michael de Plater, Vice President, Creative, Monolith Productions. “As lifelong fans of Middle-earth, we are so grateful to have the privilege to bring to life the most incredible fantasy world ever created in a new way, for a new generation. With Middle-earth: Shadow of War, we can’t wait to see the amazing stories players are going to create and share.”

The Nemesis System from Shadow of Mordor is back, giving players unique personal stories though the procedurally-generated enemies they will experience throughout the game. Shadow of War also improves on the system in many ways with Nemesis Fortresses, that allows players to enlist different strategies to overcome dynamic strongholds to build personalised stories with their unique Orc army.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War will be available for Xbox One, Project Scorpio, Windows 10 PC (Windows Store and Steam, and will be an Xbox Play Anywhere title), PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro beginning Aug. 22, 2017.
