World of Darkness MMO Cancelled

World of Darkness MMO Cancelled

World of Darkness began its development eight years ago.  It wasn’t announced until 2010, and it’s been delayed because of layoffs. Now, the title won’t see a release. Today, CCP Games cancelled World of Darkness.

The cancellation will affect 56 employees. Some will find work within the company, others are gone completely, and the rest of the Atlanta team will work on EVE Universe.

“The decision to end the World of Darkness MMO project is one of the hardest I’ve ever had to make,” said CCP CEO Hilmar Veigar Pétursson in a press release; adding the cancellation of this game puts CCP in a better position to better the Eve Universe.

The game’s world would have borrowed from two games Vampire The Masquerade: Redemption and Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines. The tabletop games depicted different vampire clans who, during their adventures try to keep the “masquerade”(where vampires stay hidden from the human world) unbroken.

Aside from World of Darkness MMO, CCP games is known for EVE Online and Dust 514.
