BLUETTI is a brand synonymous with power, and that has never been truer than with the new Elite 400 series portable power station. The largest in the Elite Power station series, the Elite 400 offers impressive power capacity, featuring an impressive 3,840 Wh LifePo4 battery, 2,600W power output and an incredible lift power of 3,900W. Promising enough power to handle everything from refrigerators to power tools, this portable powerhouse is ready for the demands of even the most dire emergencies.
Despite its large battery capacity, the Elite 400 is relatively light, weighing in at 86lbs. Considering the battery capacity and capabilities, that is impressive. More impressive, though, is the Elite 400’s portable design. With built-in wheels and an extendable handle (think wheely luggage), the power station can easily be moved around the house and is rugged enough to handle being carted around the great outdoors as needed.
Its design follows that of the excellent Elite 200, with four AC outlets all with 20A Max output, two USB-C with 100W, two USB-A with 15A and a single Cigarette lighter port. A single AC input port located on the right side of the Elite 400 allows for easy charging of the 3,840Wh LiFePO4 battery. In testing, I was able to charge from 0-100% in just over 2.5 hours via the AC plug.

The Elite 400 also supports solar charging, and BLUETTI was kind enough to send along the SORA 500W solar panel for testing. The panel is impressive in its own right, providing a compact, unpackable solar solution for travel or emergencies. Setting it up and connecting it to the Elite 400 takes only a moment, but that first unpacking of the panel does take a few moments to understand and set up. However, once unpacked the first time, it is quite easy to set up and tear down.
In testing, I was able to charge the unit from 50% to 100% in about 6 hours via the solar panel system. Extrapolating this data and projecting forward, and assuming it’s a clear day, the solar panel should charge the Elite 400 in about 11 to 11 and a half hours. Considering the battery capacity and testing I’ve done with other solar panel systems, this is actually faster than I expected, a pleasant surprise to say the least.
As for device powering, the Elite 400 is a seriously impressive unit. The uplift to 3,900W with 20A AC outlets means I could, and did, easily run my skill saw, impact drill and air compressor without tripping a breaker. While my testing didn’t test the full length of time that each of these devices could be used, according to the spec sheet, you can easily get a few hours of work with any one of these devices.
I did, however, run the refrigerator test and was impressed to find that I could run our full-size fridge for over three days on a single charge. For emergencies, the Elite 4000 should have no issue providing much-needed power to essential appliances. Lower-draw devices, such as a router or modem, can easily run for multiple days without interruption.
On that note, the Elite 400, like the rest of BLUETTI’s lineup, offers a built-in seamless UPS solution with a 15ms switchover. This means that in the case of a power outage, devices such as your PC or other power-dependent devices will continue to run without interruption. Testing proved this out with my PC never skipping a beat despite me unplugging the Elite 400 from the AC power source multiple times in a row.
As with all of the BLUETTI portable power stations I’ve tested, the Elite 400 comes with full support for remote app control via the BLUETTI app. From here, power routing, historical data and current power plan and status can all be measured and controlled. The setup takes about two to three minutes and, once complete, allows for monitoring and control of the system with ease.

I am thoroughly impressed with all the Elite 400 offers, most notably the 20A AC outlets with the 3,900W uplift. The level of power management means that almost any device can be powered from the power station in an emergency, which is something many portable power stations struggle to do. The inclusion of both wheels and an extendable handle is a huge quality-of-life feature, especially given its 86-lb mass. It’s a solid, premium power station.
Built with the quality and care I’ve come to expect from the BLUETTI brand, the Elite 400 is an excellent addition to the Elite lineup. It provides all the quality of life features the brand is known for on a power level that is ready for both emergencies and longer outdoor adventures.
