Having recently reviewed the excellent EDIFIER M90 Bookshelf Speakers, I was more than a little excited to see the release of the new Edifier D32 Tabletop Wireless speaker. Designed as a retro-inspired tabletop speaker, the D32 aims to complement any setting. Boasting 60W (RMS) total output, 11 hours of battery life, and support for high-resolution audio over Bluetooth, the D32 Tabletop Wireless is an impressive-looking and sounding speaker. Out of the box, the D32 is a beautifully designed speaker. Inspired by the radios and speakers of yesteryear, the D32 offers a unique and iconic look that is both classic and functional. Measuring 250mm x 162mm x 179mm, the black walnut version (also available in White and brown) received for review offers some great design features. For starters, the wooden case is handcrafted, the wood grain finish providing a sense of elegance to the speaker.
The braided, brass-finished speaker grill looks absolutely stunning against the silver front plate that houses the accordion-style switches. For the record, these switches are more than a pretty accent; they offer onboard control for power, Bluetooth and media control, marrying function and fashion in a very practical way.
I especially appreciate the attention to detail and balance in both creating smart accent features, such as the metallic EDIFIER logo in the upper left corner of the speaker grill, while also maintaining a minimal and elegant overall design. Examining the back of the D32 reveals three inputs, AUX, USB and power. This provides a total of three connection options, including up to two Bluetooth connections simultaneously, giving users the flexibility to accommodate the D32 in their setup with ease.
While the look of the D32 Tabletop Wireless Speaker carries the retro vibes, this speaker is anything but old school in its internal design. Featuring two 1” silk down tweeters and a single 4” long-throw mid-low driver, the D32 is designed to produce exceptionally clear mids and highs while providing a solid and clear bass experience in its relatively small cabinet. This is further enhanced by the case itself, which provides dual reflective ports to passively amplify the low end without needing additional power.
This is all paired wonderfully with an impressive digital audio processor that supports high-resolution audio. Capable of processing 24bit/96kHz audio, the D32 also provides two-way active crossover of the audio signal, enhancing overall clarity and definition from the source.
A two-way active crossover essentially separates the audio signal into two signals before it is amplified. The high end is split out from the mids and lows, with each signal being amplified separately. The advantage of this method is that, in real time, the processor can adjust the frequency levels (this process is called dynamic range control), reducing sudden spikes in the audio signal, which in turn reduces distortion for each of the two signals when amplified. As they are done separately, the highs and mids/lows come through clearer even at higher volumes.

The result in testing is an exceptionally clean audio profile that does a solid job at presenting those three frequency ranges well without any one overwhelming the mix. The overall sound is clear, crisp and clean. Highs and mids come through exceptionally well without being too bright, thanks to the balance of a fairly well-rounded bass experience. It is also impressively loud while still maintaining the aforementioned clarity. From an audio listening experience, I’m quite impressed with EDIFIER’s tabletop speaker.
With full support of the EDIFIER ConneX app, which gives you control of preset EQ and a host of other features, as well as Apple AirPlay, the D32 has a lot to offer users looking for a more elegant tabletop speaker experience. This is all further enhanced by the 5,200mAh battery tucked into the cabinet. In testing, I was able to achieve over 11 hours of listening running at about 40% volume, which was more than enough sitting on my desk while working.
