The new Pokemon Trading Card Expansion Sword & Shield-Evolving Skies brings all the Eevee evolutions into one place and puts dragon-type pokemon at the forefront.
Pokemon has remained one of the most popular global IP’s since its release 25 years ago. The games, anime, and of course trading card branches of everything Pokemon have grown over the years, and while currently many fans are waiting for updates on Pokemon: Acreus, Pokemon: Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon: Shining Pearl, the Pokemon Trading Card game is once again growing with their latest expansion, Sword & Shield – Evolving Skies.
Notable for this expansion is the fact that Eevee and all of its evolutions are included, some of them will have different battle styles like single strike Flareon VMAX and rapid strike Sylveon. Eevee and all the evolutions will appear as Pokemon V and Pokemon VMAX. Along with the focus on Eevee, this expansion will also shine a spotlight on dragon-type Pokemon, including Rayquaza VMAX Duraludon VMAX making their first appearance in the Sword & Shield series of the Pokemon Trading Card game.
Those looking to snap up these cards will be able to do so in booster packs, special collections and two versions of an elite trainer box one of which features Umbreon, Flareon, Jolteon and Leafeon while the other features Sylveon, Vaporeon, Glaceon and Espeon. In total, the full expansion includes: 15 VMAX Pokemon, 18 Pokemon V and 33 full-art Pokemon V, 24 trainer cards, five full-art supporter cards and a new special energy card.
Pokemon trading cards have become increasingly popular recently due to the monetary value that some rare cards can have, so much so that it has caused retailers enough issue they’ve had to stop the sale of trading cards just to keep their customers and employees safe. These cards are currently set to hit store shelves on August 14, 2021 according to a press release from The Pokemon Company, but there has been no word as to whether or not certain major retailers like Target in the US have resumed the selling of trading cards.
