Bringing Seasonal Treats

Mortal Shell II Rotten Autumn Embraces Halloween, And It’s Out Now!

Cold Symmetry is embracing the holiday spirit this year with their latest update for Mortal Shell II, called Rotten Autumn, which will unleash new content.

It’s that time of year. The time when titles embrace Halloween and autumn to unleash updates that strike fear into the gaming industry. Like many other developers, Cold Symmetry is unleashing the new update called Mortal Shell II: Rotten Autumn. Publisher Playstack and developer Cold Symmetry said the update is free for Mortal Shell II, bringing new content, features and seasonal surprises to the dark fantasy action RPG on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S. First things first, a new trailer has been released showing everything, and it can be seen below.

The Mortal Shell II: Rotten Autumn update gives players new reasons to venture back into the crumbling world of Mortal Shell II. The free update introduces 15 new dungeons to explore, 10 new Tarstones to discover and new Shell Shades for every Shell, offering some appropriately spooky customization options for Halloween. Beyond the new content, an alternative soundtrack by Sakis Tolis of Rotting Christ brings a more melancholic atmosphere to the journey, further embracing the dark and haunting nature of Mortal Shell II.

Seasonal treats lurk in the update, too. Players can don the Harbinger Pumpkin Helmet (which gives the player a Halloween-coded big head mode), strike a different chord with the Impervious Lute skin and additional lute tracks to jam to, and players can seek out the ghost of a lost Shell offering cryptic notes to those who cross its path. Cold Symmetry has also uncorked Photo Mode, which lets players capture the brutality of the world (especially when you unleash it).

Fans looking for an excuse to get behind the shell once more in Mortal Shell II will find one with the new Rotten Autumn update, and all fans have to do is update the title to start playing the new content. It’s out now, and it’s completely free, so fans who own either the base or devout versions of the game can jump back in with no extra charge.
