Cold Symmetry is back at it again with a new trailer for their upcoming sequel, Mortal Shell 2, and it’s coming sooner than fans think.
Cold Symmetry and Playstack Games have surprise-dropped a new trailer for the upcoming action-packed soulslike sequel, Mortal Shell 2. It appears to be coming before GTA VI launches, and avoiding the mega-packed September 2026 for releases at the same time, while also giving fans a new soulslike to sink their fangs into before The Blood of the Dawnwalker. Playstack has also provided a new trailer, and it can be seen below.
Mortal Shell 2 is an action RPG sequel expanding on the original punishing soulslike from 2021. According to Playstack, “Significantly expands on the original with unrestricted, adrenaline-charged combat, deeper weapon design with extensive upgrade options, and an emphasis on free exploration,” while also offering an immersive, interconnected open world designed to unfold with the growth of the player.
For fans who can’t wait any longer, there is an open beta for Mortal Shell 2 currently playable and open for fans to dive into right now on the Steam platform. All you have to do is head to the storefront, hit the button, and you’re in with no extra charge. Pre-orders for Mortal Shell 2 are also open now, with two versions of the game available for purchase. Players who buy the Devout Edition will gain a full 72 hours of early access before general release.
Also included within this edition is the Obsidian Skin Set, which can be used to transform into the eight playable shells in the game (for base edition adopters, shells are still accessible without the skins). Ironically (considering the state of the PlayStation physical disc controversy), collectors have the option of procuring a physical edition coming exclusively to PlayStation 5, called the Revered Edition, which comes with a collector’s box, an artbook, fine art prints, more bonus skins and a steelbook case to display (this physical copy comes with the game).
Mortal Shell 2 arrives on August 20 for PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC.
