The Walking Dead: Season 3 2

If there’s a special someone in your life that you feel needs some abject misery, cruel exposure to human ugliness and a profound sense of loss, then have I got a gift for you! The Walking Dead adventure game (a shoe in to win best adventure game for 2012) is now available on a physical, retail disc, and if you get the collector’s edition, it comes with new art work and volume one of The Walking Dead Compendium. Or, for you trade paperback people out there, the collected collections of TPBs 1-10.

It’s about the size of a phone book for a small town and decapitate zombies older than one year. Give the gift that’s sure to make your loved one feel absolutely horrible and morose and share put this bundle of psychological trauma in a Christmas tree today. They’ll thank you for it, maybe, once they stop crying.

2. PSN+ & X-box Live Gold Memberships

Xbox Backwards Compatibility Sale Is Live 1

For the console gamer on your list, it is easy to recommend a PSN + or X-Box live membership. PSN+ allows PlayStation 3 users to access exclusive sale prices on high-end titles, and on occasion, PSN+ also offers users AAA titles for free. The amount of free games offered on PSN+ easily outweighs the price of the PSN+  membership.

X-box users will value an Xbox Live Gold membership because they can jump online and play with the friends on their friends list, which is great for the gamer that plays Call of Duty. The Gold membership also allows users to use their Netflix account through their X-box console. Whether it is one month or an entire year,  memberships are not only useful but enjoyable.

3. Bishoujo statues by Kotobukiya

Holiday Buyers Guide Week 2

Mel’s recommendation this week is for the geeky collector on your shopping list. Bishoujo(pretty girl) statues by Kotobukiya are colourful, dynamic and sculpted beautifully.      These statues give an anime flare to many fan favourites. Characters range from comics, movies and video games. Presented in a beautiful Bishoujo style, these statues average  9 inches in height, are accompanied by a display base and packaged in a window box. The window box allows the super hardcore collectors to keep their statues mint in package without losing the ability to show off the piece, although it is much more captivating out of the box. Kotobukiya uses high-quality pvc plastic to produce the Bishoujo statues which allows for more durability than statues made of polystone. Prices range between $54-$67USD. With a wide range of characters to pick from, there is one for every geeky collector.

4. Lekki Retro Console

Gamers love getting games for Christmas, if you’re not asking Santa to stuff your stocking full of games and DLC you might have better luck with Father Christmas or the illusive Sinterklaas. If you happen to celebrate Christmas with the latter two and happen to live in Europe do I have the holiday gift for you. What better way to show the gamer in your life that you love them than by giving the gift of phenomenally classic gaming.

A French website dealing in vintage electronics will sell you a 100% refurbished and re-coloured Super Famicom, better known here in North America as the SNES. They come in one of four colours including, yellow, powder blue, green and orange. To sweeten the deal, Lekki will even throw in a copy of Super Mario World for the meager price of €190. However, there is a catch, and the consoles are European PAL format so they won’t play North American SNES cartridges. So this one is for our European readers, but if you’re here in NA and have a gamer on your list who wants something unique, go for it. Just make sure they know a damn good import game shop. Check it out here.

Price: €190
Retailer: Lekki
