Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Laptop

The Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Laptop from Lenovo’s Legion Pro Series is one of the newest in Lenovo’s long line of innovations—taking gaming power to the next level. With AI-tuned performance via the Lenovo AI Engine+, high refresh rates, and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 graphics card, the Legion Pro 7i packs a punch. On the flip side, a battery touted as “a limit-pushing 99.9Whr battery life” only lasting around an hour when unplugged isn’t ideal for gaming-on-the-go, as well as the heat output, fan sound, and size of the power brick keep the Legion Pro 7i as a more middling option.

Even though the Legion Pro 7i is definitely disappointing when on the go, it certainly has everything you’d want out of a gaming laptop that primarily stays at home. Especially if you rarely find yourself out in public and just want to game at a friend’s house or in your hotel room, then the Legion Pro 7i can’t be beat. But at the same time, at this price point, the heat, fan sound, and battery life should be a bit better across the board.

The Legion Pro 7i Gaming Laptop packs a punch with its RTX 4080 and i9 processor, but the lack of better heat disbursement, battery life, and fan sound guts a laptop filled to the brim.

ASUS Zephyrus G16 Gaming Laptop

ASUS Zephyrus G16 is one of ASUS’s latest gaming laptops sporting top of the line specs without compromising on portability. As someone who greatly values portable tech, this is something I always look for in a laptop as well as any other tech I wish to purchase. My unit is sporting a 13th Gen Intel I9, Nvidia RTX 4060, 16 GB of RAM, and a 16” QHD screen and a 1 TB SSD. All this will cost you a hefty $1699.99

The ASUS Zephyrus G16 is a very competent gaming laptop that can blend in to office and other professional environments where most gaming laptops wouldn’t. The long battery life is sure to get you through most, if not full days of work before requiring a top-up, making it also great for students looking for an all-in-one system. While I do find the RGB lighting to be a minor let down, ASUS more than makes up for it with a wide array of port selection, performance and overall build quality and delivers on a very incredible laptop. While the price may be a little steep when compared to other comparable configured laptops, many do not offer the same degree of battery life or portability.

The new ASUS Zephyrus G16 is an excellent laptop for gamers who often find themselves on the road quite often or who are still in school and need a long battery life to get them through the day. The specs will deliver a solid gaming experience while not taking up as much space as many traditional gaming laptops.

ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 Gaming Laptop, 16″ WUXGA 165Hz, Intel 13th Gen 10-Core i7-13620H Up to 4.9 Ghz, GeForce RTX 4060, 16GB RAM, 1TB PCI 4.0, RGB, WiFi 6E, TB 4, USB-C, RJ45, HDMI, Win11 Pro
  • 【GeForce RTX 4060 8GB GDDR6 Graphics】 All new GeForce RTX 4060 8GB GDDR6 with ROG Boost at 100W (120W with Dynamic Boost 2.0) for an ultrafast GPU to fuel your games
  • 【16″ WUXGA display with 165Hz refresh rate】The ROG also be equipped with an WUXGA 165Hz panel, with 100% sRGB and Dolby Vision support. With the same extra tall 16:10 aspect ratio, prepare to immerse yourself in the action like never before

MSI Vector GP68HX 12V Gaming Laptop

Best Gaming Laptop 2024

Writer: Matt Keith

MSI is a brand that has been pulling no punches with its gaming laptop this year. Their latest entry, which comes out swinging, is the new Vector GP68 HX 12V Gaming Laptop. While I was thoroughly impressed with the Cyborg 15 we reviewed back in July, I have to confess that the Vector GP68 HX 12V is the undisputed champion of gaming laptops reviewed this season.

The only minor downside is that the system is quite loud when running in high-performance mode. The reality is that this is an issue for most gaming laptops with decent GPUs and par for the course with gaming on a laptop. However, when measured against the cooling that is being achieved with the system, it’s a small price to pay for superb performance.

At the end of the day, the Vector GP68 HX 12V is a laptop built for gamers who want the most out of their system. It is a powerhouse wrapped in premium packaging. It offers top-tier performance in a fairly compact form factor and will have no issue handling whatever you throw at it. At the same time, there are a few minor critiques, such as the App Player software and the loud cooling system. These pale in comparison to all that the Vector GP68 HX 12V has to offer. While it does have a fairly steep price point for most gamers, the value packed into this gaming laptop makes the price point at least something to consider if you’re in the market for a performance machine.
