Activision Blizzard Purchases King for $5.9 Billion - 2015-11-03 07:02:26

In a move that gives Activision Blizzard a foothold in the mobile market, they have purchased Candy Crush Saga developer King.

This deal worth $5.9 billion would be a major push into the mobile space by the publisher. Known for the Call of Duty franchise, along with the hugely popular World of Warcraft. This deal would give them access to a community of 350 million users and would quickly make it one of the biggest mobile developers in the world.

in a statement from Activision Blizzard, CEO Bobby Kotick said: “The combined revenues and profits solidify our position as the largest, most profitable standalone company in interactive entertainment. With a combined global network of more than half a billion monthly active users, our potential to reach audiences around the world on the device of their choosing enables us to deliver great games to even bigger audiences than ever before.”

This move comes weeks before the launch of the hotly anticipated Call of Duty: Black Ops 3,  and if trends hold true, this will be one of the biggest releases this holiday season.
