Alan Wake 2 Soundtrack: Remedy Collaborated With Finnish Musicians For Custom Sound

A One-of-a-Kind Soundtrack

Remedy Collaborated With Finnish Musicians to Custom-Make Alan Wake 2's Soundtrack

A new video released by Remedy Entertainment details the soundtrack of Alan Wake 2 and how the studio collaborated with the Finnish production house Fried Music to make what’s called “Chapter Songs.”

This collaboration manifested in creative director Sam Lake and Remedy’s writing team working hand-in-hand with musicians across Finland, crafting seven tracks that tie directly into Alan Wake 2’s storytelling and plot. As these are called “chapter songs,” they presumably tie into the different chapters for the game’s two protagonists, Alan Wake and Saga Anderson.

The artists on the soundtrack include SANNI, costee, Teemu Brunila, ROOS+BERG, Paleface, Jurek, RZY, RAKEL, Jean Castel, and Mougleta.

“We’ve been patiently waiting for the right project and opportunity to do this, and because of the Scandinavian influence we have in the game, we were trying to find the right Scandinavian partners,” says the principal audio designer at Remedy, Ville Sorsa.

A sort of song camp was created to craft the soundtrack, and Sam Lake notes that poetry he had written served as the starting point for the lyrics, which could then be built upon.

“What I really wanted, is the song camp is a song-maker’s paradise. The only rule we had was the lyrics need to be about the story,” says Lake.

The first song from the collaboration “Follow You Into the Dark (featuring RAKEL)” is currently available for streaming on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.

This actually isn’t the only musical collaboration Remedy is implementing for Alan Wake 2. The studio has previously collaborated with Finnish rock band Poets of the Fall on Max Payne 2, Alan Wake, and Control. The group will be returning as the in-universe band Old Gods of Asgard in Alan Wake 2, creating new music and playing the characters in-game.

Alan Wake 2 launches on October 27 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
