AMD Officially Lifts Radeon RX Vega Benchmark Embargo 1

The benchmark for AMD’s Radeon RX Vega has officially been made public.

Shacknews reports that benchmark information detailing the specs of AMD’s Radeon RX Vega was officially released today after months of teasing and leaks from unknown sources. The new press information has revealed that while AMD’s new GPU is able to compete with the current market, it does have its own drawbacks.

The Radeon RX Vega is designed to compete with newer GPUs on the market, specifically Nvidia’s Pascal which released last year. Considering the large release gap, its underwhelming to find that the Radeon RX Vega only slightly surpasses Nvidia’s Pascal cards in most areas.

AMD announced earlier that the Radeon RX Vega will be launching in two main variants, the Vega 56 and Vega 64. The difference between the two is that the Radeon RX Vega 64 will be available in air-cooled and water-cooled offerings. It was also revealed that the liquid-cooled version of the RX Vega 64 performs better than the air-cooled variant, offering gamers up to twelve percent better performance. The liquid-cooled version of the RX Vega 64 costs $200 more than the air-cooled version, matching its price to Nvidia’s GTX 1080 Ti. In comparison to the GTX 1080 Ti however, the RX Vega 64 fails to match its performance in any way.

While the RX Vega 64 cards are available today, the RX Vega 56 cards are expected sometime around the beginning of September. Priced at $399, it appears to be the strongest value in all of the Radeon Vega line while the RX Vega 64 costs $699.

AMD recently revealed a number of package deals that include the Radeon RX Vega variants. These offers include motherboards, Ryzen CPUs, and discounts on Samsung-branded monitors. The Radeon Red Pack features the Radeon RX Vega 56, priced at $499. The Radeon Black Pack will include the Radeon RX Vega 64, priced at $599. Finally, the Radeon Aqua Pack will feature the Radeon RX Vega 64 Liquid Cooled Edition, priced at $699.
