Auto Draft

The existence of Bad Boys 4 has been known since Will Smith and Martin Lawrence announced it in January, and today, we have a trailer, a plot, a release date and the subtitle.

The buddy cop franchise that has spanned three films will be returning for a fourth. Bad Boys 4: Ride or Die has been officially named and given a trailer. One thing is for certain: it seems Mike Lowrey (Will Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) haven’t lost a step when it comes to outrageous situations. The trailer was posted by Sony Pictures Inc. earlier today, and it can be seen below.

Miami P.D. Detectives Lowrey and Burnett are back at it again, and this time, they need to work together to uncover a conspiracy that disgraces their post-mortem captain, framed for corruption and working with the drug cartel. Bad Boys 4: Ride or Die does seemingly take a turn, and the boys are eventually seen running from the law they swore to uphold.

The last Bad Boys film, Bad Boys For Life, was released in 2020 with incredible commercial success just before the COVID-19 pandemic. The film earned a staggering $426,505,244, according to BoxOfficeMojo, and while it raked at the box office, it had a mixed performance with critics. CGMagazine’s review by Shak Lambert gave the film a 7.5 and said, “Bad Boys For Life’s stronger focus on characters and humour help make this sequel feel like a needed evolution for the series.”

The film also landed with a 59% on Metacritic on 46 reviews. Most of the positive sentiments come from the on-screen chemistry between Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, as most agree that the films are at their best when Burnett and Lowrey are center stage.

Thankfully, fans don’t have to wait a decade for Bad Boys 4: Ride or Die because it lands in theatres on June 7.
